need opinion on sash color choice
Hi, Ladies:
I am making a shirt (not T-shirt) quilt using the shirt fabric from my dad. He passed away last year. I had blacks made. I am debating what color for the sash/background. I could use orange/yellow because most of shirts are blue, gray, black, it will add some warm color to it. If I use white, it will be more consistent with the blocks.
Any suggestions, advise, or opinions are welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hear about your Dad. What a nice tribute to him by making a quilt out of his shirts. I prefer the white also. Going to be a nice quilt. Everytime you use it you will feel a hug from your Dad. Good luck on your decision

I'm so sorry about your Dad. There's nothing so special as being daddy's little girl. I dread the day my 83 year old dad leaves this earth to join Jesus and my mom. (I can't even type this without a big lump in my throat.)Hugs and prayers to you. I'm sure that making this quilt from his shirts is a bittersweet project. I plan to do the same someday, and since I now do his laundry every week, and he is a dress-shirt kind of man for the most part, I handle his clothes a lot.
But to your question, the white sashing is perfect. It lets all the colors and patterns take the spotlight. The other one is not a color that's in any of the fabrics that I see, so it doesn't do anything for the pieces. What are you thinking for binding? Scrappy? Dark Grey? Navy?

Thanks for everyone's advise. I guess white it is!
I appreciate greatly for your kind words. Dad passed away at age of 86 due to lung cancer. He was very healthy prior to the cancer. But he didn't surfer too much. He took targeted medication (one pill a day) for two years and died after two and half years later.
I plan to use gray color fabric for the binding.
Thanks again everyone.
