i should elaborate on that a bit I am hand piecing a jacobs ladder with one inch squares i thought it would be good to quilt on my emb machine and make it a quilt as you go quilt think normal hoops might ruin the hand piecing

In response to WVHILLS22 If anyone knows of quilt motifs I can get please let me know. I have them from emblibray, designssewfine, and redleaf. Here is one I just completed.

I have bought quilting designs from Amazing Designs and Anita Goodesign. They are wonderful.

Looks like it depends on the size of the block and what type of quilting you want to do. I just ordered a set of hoops for my Brother PE 770. It includes a 5" X 12" for borders. Your machine and the size hoops it takes will also determine how big a total block you can do. 5" X 5" is as big a square as I can get on my machine (slightly less than that). Some patterns will let you do it in two sections, so if you measure correctly, you could move your fabric in the hoop? Haven't tried any of this yet, but will be soon!

Does anyone know how many stitches a bobbin of 60wt prewound can sew? No, this isn't a trick question, LOL! I have some fairly dense designs, like 45,000 + stitches. I hate running out near the end of one, because it takes so long to get back to where I was once the bobbin is changed. But I also hate to put a new one in if I'm half way through and have enough left for the design.

A new bobbin should be more than enough thread. I am curious why it is such a problem to change bobbins though. I use colored thread in my bobbin to match my top thread and change bobbins from 6 - 18 or more times per design. It takes me about a minute or less to change the bobbin and top thread and start stitching again.

It depends on what I'm stitching, but if there are a lot of color changes and I'm matching the bobbin, I pre-wind and use one of those little wooden spool racks - set the bobbin on the bottom, the spool on top and in the order it will be used.

I'm going to respond even though every time I do it's like no one reads what I have to say. I posted last week about some sites for quilting designs (which someone asked for) and then there was still another request for the same info. If you go to emblibrary.com and under Kenny's Corner he has a spot where you can calculate how much thread, etc you'll need for projects based on how many stitches are in the design.

Too late! I looked! Some of the designs seem familiar -- I think from a German site -- but some I don't have. Now I do!!
