I used some styrofoam that my husband had from something -- it was about 1/2 inch thick and it works great. I just stick straight pins in it at the end to hold and stick a label on with the yardage. It's such a great idea. You can probably use almost anything for wrapping like thick cardboard, etc. Have fun with it.

One thing you may want to be aware of is your fabric needs to be wrapped on "ACID FREE" what ever. That is why I chose COLOPLAST. My husband had some signage that had paper on it and it was not ACID FREE so I tossed it out. I didn't want my fabric to do funky stuff. You may want to surf the web to learn more about acid free surface and fabrics. Just a thought!

Thank you, ALASKASUNSHINE FOR THE GREAT TUTORIAL. I went to my local sign shop and ask for scraps of Coroplast sign board. He gave me 15 to 20 pieces about 7x24 for nothing (I did offer). Then I found a local supplier and got 18 X 24 boards for $1 each They also sold 4x8 sheets for about $9.35 each. I have two closets full of fabric and have just started to organizing them. Again thanks for the great Idea.

This was so wonderful that I thought I had walked into a new quilt shop and that I was just dazzled with the assortment of cloth available. I was glad to see that I too can have my fabric orgainized as my stash in in flip top boxes by time and hard to see. Thanks again

wow! that's some stash, sunshine!
i fold my larger pieces like this, too, but without the board base. looks like the board makes it easier to store.
