Thanks for posting the great tute. I have been wanting to try this and have even looked at a few patterns, but never saw any that I really liked. Your jackets look great and your explanations are well done. I think I am going to give it a try.

How did you finish off the collar and cuffs? I'd love to see finished one too!!!!! Looks neat!

I made a t-shirt jacket for DD for her birthday. I didn't care for the patchwork and did mine all in left over batik. It was very easy and a short project. I will make more for Christmas.

That's in the tutorial. The collar is just folded over and stitched down. You can do pretty much anything to the cuffs. I just put binding on mine, but I have to watch that because I have long arms and the sleeves just barely came out long enough for me.

That's really pretty, did you just follow the same method but using a t-shirt for the foundation? Did you cut your batik to match the shirt outline and then fuse it on?

I used the basics in the tutorial and used the sweat shirt as my pattern. I spray basted the fabric to the finished side of the sweatshirt (it had a picture of a fish on it). I quilted it with straight lines to keep it from being too busy. Then I sewed the sweatshirt/fabric together as shown in the pictorial. I finished it all the was around with bias binding. I used the 2 1/2 in double fold. I started at the bottom of the back and went completely around the front, the neck, the other front and then to the back. It finished really easily. I has a business appearance and keeps her warm in cold air conditioning at work. It gives her hugs from me every time she puts it on. :D

I cut a v-shape in the neck on one side approximately where I thought it should be and matched the other front to it. I used the shape of the sweat shirt for the neck back. I also used bias binding on the sleeves. The basic tutorial is a great place to jump off and design something uniquely your own.
