Default Boye Display Case

My collection started out to only include Singers, and then somewhere along the way I got the idea it would be neat to collect one machine for each Shuttle in the Boye Display case.

The very first cases have some of the numbers switched around, I'm using the later (and most common) group - and including some of the later added needle sizes. I'll include the most common Mfg for that size, and in most cases, the only Mfg for that size, even if they used a few hundred badged names over the years. I didn't take pictures of the needles though.

I am only including one machine as an example, but don't use that as a guide as most of these mfg made many different models, and some don't look a lot alike.

Shuttle 1, Needle 2

Household

Needle 2 1/2

Predominantly Free made Rotary machines, including those badged New Home (not the original New Home).

And also, the GE Sewhandy made by Standard.

Shuttle 3, Needles 4

New Home (before Free took over)

Shuttle 5, Needle 6

Standard

Shuttle 7, Needle 8

Domestic (before White took over)

Shuttle 9, needle 10 (later Davis take the 15x1 needle)

The longer shuttle is the full size Davis that Boye carried, the shorter one is for the smaller Davis machines, and Boye did not carry that one.

Davis (long needle)

Short needle (the front slide shows shorter needle size)

Shuttle 11, Needle 12

opps - I don't have a picture of this one!

it's White VS.

Shuttle 13, Needle 14.

This shows shuttle 13 (short) and 22 (long), they are the same except for length.

Eldredge/National switched to the shorter length early on, and I'm still looking for a machine takes the long one.

Shuttle 15, needle 16 (same size as 15x1)

Ok - I missed this one too - it's Singer (and those made to be like Singer) and the only one with the middle indentation.

Shuttle 17 (this machine takes Needle 8)

Demorest

Needle 18

Wheeler Wilson #9

Shuttle 19, needle 24

New Royal - old style, (new "style" New Royal was made by New Home)

Needle #20

Davis and White, old style, not sure I have a machine that takes this size - I use to . . .

Needle # 20 1/2

Wilcox & Gibbs (and National Automatic)

Needle #21

Damascus Grand Rotary, this is the old style. I'm not sure this machine is correct, there may be an even earlier version. It's made by National.

Shuttle 22 - see Shuttle 13 above

needle #23
Singer round shank - don't know if I have one, does the 12 take this needle?

Needles #24 - see Shuttle #19

Shuttle #25 (takes needle #12)

New Florence (not the same company as the original Florence)

Needle #26

American No. 7

Needle #27

Wheeler Wilson #8 - I don't have one and had not planned on getting one . . . but I may change my mind.

Cathy,
A nice collection of shuttles and corresponding machines. I imagine a lot of time, effort, and thought went into it. Boye sure did have a slick set up.

Wow, nice collection! I have a few vintage toy machines, a couple of older machines, but I would LOVE to get one of those Boye cases!

I am not sure if I am more impressed with your machines, the shuttles, the Boye cases, or the knowledge you have for all of the above. I think I'll go with the knowledge even though your collection is awesome!!! Thanks for taking the time to post all of those photos and information.

It's vey confusing for me all these companies with the same names and other that sold and now became something else. The Boye containers look like they have photos on top of 12? shuttles, but you are mentioning shuttle 19, shuttle 25? How many different shuttle types were there?
