Default Convert to treadle question

I am thinking of converting 1.3 amp motor sewing machine to treadle; will a treadle have as much power as the the motor for thick fabrics? Leather? I got this machine specifically to change over to treadle but now wonder if want to as the motor purrrrrrs through anything. (white dressmaker 165)

Not sure about that machine/treadle combo, but my Victorian Singer industrial treadle has a 16" drive wheel and the Singer 13 leather stitching machine has a 2.5" pulley, so it really boogies. My Victorian Wheeler & Wilson industrial treadle has a 15" wheel that has two different diameter pulley grooves (as does the Wheeler Wilson #10 machine) so that you can run it "fast" or run it "powerful"

With that said our 1943 241-12 motor driven beast will sew through anything we've tried (including 16 layers of paper for bookbinding projects) and it is stupid fast.

Paper binding ..... Hmmm, I wonder if any of my machines will do that. What needle would you suggest?
I like to make book like manuals when I print them off the net.

You can always find a nice treadle - but getting a nice motor...

I agree with Miriam. As much as I love my treadle, I would never convert my White 2334.

Thank you for your input. I once had a beautiful, brand new fifty-sixty year old Necchi Supernova, pink that had parts and directions to change to treadle or motor, with directions outlined in the owner's manual. Silly me, did not know the specialness of the machine at the time at gave it away. I would give anything for that machine back. I only used it for dressmaking as did not quilt yet. Also, needed to use my Amish neighbor's machine once and it was a machine with cams converted to a treadle. My only time using one. I loved the control and the start up of sewing. Never realized the pause at start up with a motor until then. . .and have always noticed every time I sew, no matter the machine. So, I am trying to find a machine to convert. . .but as Miriam said, "getting a nice motor".
