Thanks again to everyone.
After mush perusal on the internet last night and 'tis morning. I was getting pretty disgruntled on to why my machine would not sew.
Well I did the bobbin tension test and I loosened it a bit. No stitches.
Then I remembered something about the needle/ timing/ 3/16th of an inch.
So I put in a new needle and KA BAM!!! Sewing like a champ.
I am so happy.

Be sure the little finger in the bobbin area is pointing straight up. You will need to remove the bobbin thread plate to see it. Sometimes it gets moved to the side accidently when cleaning and replacing the plate. It won't stitch unless it is pointing straight up. That is a common reason FWs don't stitch. It has happened to me and several ladies in our guild. Needle flat side to the left also. Check for caught threads. I took yards of black thread out of my machine when I got it and it was nearly invisible to the naked eye. Check the bobbin area for anything that might be out of place. Check this against the manual. Good luck. They are particular little machines.

The tension doesn't engage until the presser foot is down. Watch the tension discs when you move the pressure foot lever up and down. You can see it engage. The tension plates are floppy when the foot is up.
The bobbin tension is something different. Do you have a manual for the 221 (FW)? There are 2 tiny screws on the bobbin case. You'll have to look to see which one is the bobbin tension. I always hold the thread and the bobbin case doesn't slide down unless I kinda shake the thread. Then, it moves down but doesn't 'fall' down.
I hope you can figure out what the problem is.
