Rain has a real good tutorial about those hand wheels and the clutch knob.

I can't remember if the 301 has a little different washer - if it does you may need to search around on Rain Noe's blog for more info. If the washer has 3 bumps treat the bumps like you would the washer and you should be ok.

Thank you all for all your help and forgive me for any headaches you may have gotten on my account. I am proud to say that my machine now runs beautifully. I still have to purchase and rewire the foot controller, continue cleaning and adjust the tension since I continue to see the bobbin thread on the top, but for right now we will say she's running so sweetly. Just in case your wondering what I did to remedy the handwheel problem, I just took the screw off and retightened it and we were off and running. I have sewn and filled a bobbin without any problem, so again I thank all of you. Perhaps someone as inexperienced as I can look at this thread and get some help with their machine. I am just tickled pink
