Default need info on treadle cabinet and machine

Greetings from sunny Tucson, AZ. I have always been interested in finding a treadle cabinet to refinish. This is listed on Craigslist now and is located close to my home. Can anyone help me to know if it's worth the amount or what I should offer? Also, the machine doesn't work and I can't tell what model it is and if it would be hard to fix...owner said they don't know anything about machines but liked the cabinet but downsizing now. She said she didn't know where to look for model # so guess I'll have to get that when/if I go check this out.

I look forward to your advice. Dianna

It is a Singer 66-1 with back clamp feet. It is the lotus decals and a very desirable machine. It is worth a$100 but don't hesitate to bargin with the seller. It is missing the bobbin cover slide plate. I really love mine. I have three 66-1. You can get a replacement from sew classic.

Thanks for this quick reply. Will do some research and then go see it. My husband is good at refinishing so will take him along but I want to be the one to refinish it. I'll bargain the fact that it's not working and really only buying cabinet...lol. Dianna

I agree with Glenn. Don't pass on this one. The cabinet looks pretty good. Before thinking about refinishing try to find some Howard Feed-N-Wax. It contains beeswax, carnuba wax and orange oil. I love the stuff for rejuvenating a dry cabinet.

I went to see this and the cabinet was in very bad condition. My husband does work working and said it would not be worth trying to redo. I'll just keep looking....I know there is a treasure out there with my name on it...thanks for your input.

Was the cabinet in bad shape or just the finish. It look completely restorable to me. I restore antiques but retired now and this one would be an easy one to take care of.

I would take it in a heartbeat, cabinet doesn't look that bad. For $100 wish I lived there.

This cabinet looks just like mine. It included a perfectly working singer 115. It cost me $115.00 about ten years ago.
Best money I ever spent. Good luck. You have to remember what is it worth to you?
peace
