old fashioned advice
I finally got my 1910 red eye treadle.The iron lady has the back shaft attachments.I do not want any changes made to her.I have most of the attachments for her but am missing a couple.So I need HELP finding them.Where can I go??

Thank you.I so love her and can't want to really start sewing. I need the bias gauge,quilter ,under braider and the shirring plate.I was able to down load the manual and a few other booklets. Which I took to the printer. Should have those done Thrus. they said.And was able to buy bobbins,belt and bobbin o ring on line.Should have those in about 2 weeks.Since you already have one.May I ask you should I buy extra belts and o rings or wait due to dry rotting issues?? And how often should I expect to change them out? Also I read somewhere that I should have my hubby put the belt behind his back and stretch it,is this correct?/ Thanks again

I don't have any success putting leather belts on machines. Instead I took Bonnie Hunter's advise and bought some 1/4" clear tubing for belts. I bought my tubing from hardware store - it's 1/4" OD x 1/8" ID and I got some 1/8" OD x 1" hose menders from here at work to connect the tube - worked like a charm. Joe here on the board said my hose menders were too small for the aquarium tubing he has. He also said the aquarium tubing was quite flimsy (I think he said that) and stretched after being used a while. My tubing is used on farming equipment so it's heftier with the thicker wall. I paid 20 cents per foot for my tubing and I think 28 cents for the hose mender.

I can remember my Mom using and electrical cord and another time going to Fouchmans auto shop for a model A or model T ( it has been to long ago)car belt. But I would have never thought of tubing.Great idea.I will have to let my Hubby know.Thankyou
