I have a Pfaff Tiptronic 1171 with IDT. I bought it in 1997. I love it. It sews a straight stitch without anyone holding or guiding the fabric. Of course, I do though. A dealer I had clean it told me that the newer models are no longer made in Germany and aren't as well made as the older models. Good luck finding a machine that will be one you will love to use.

Great topic. I just bought a 7550 from a friend for $300 and it came with a table/desk and all the extras. I bought it because I also wanted the IDT. Just got it set up but have not had the chance to use it but I am looking forward to sewing with it. I know she took very good care of her machines. She had to replace the mother board a few years back and I was wondering why that would go bad and if that is very common? Has anyone else had this experience? Good luck with your decision.

I have a 1222E that has the IDT; bought it about 4 years ago. I think Pfaff came out with IDT in the mid-1970s. It has about 8" harp/throat space and is wonderful for machine quilting and piecing.
