Here's a picture of the 301 I won on E-Bay and the cabinet,
stool...also there are several feet ,screwdrivers, lessons & even
a singer stocking darner for the 301...never heard of one before...If there is any orange on the machine it is from the
sunlight streaming in through my sewing room window...also included some pictures of my sewing room

WOW... that is a beautiful machine, beautiful cabinet. Looks brand new! That darner thingy is pretty cool. I just got one, and haven't used it yet. Read the manual and thought.... wow, now I need a sock to get a hole so I can try it.

Nice, airy and sunny sewing room.... love it! Can I come over???

featherweight 05-11-2011 05:01 PM

It is beautiful. I have 3 tan ones would love to have a black one...

pegstar 05-11-2011 05:01 PM

It was a local pickup...Had to drive about 4 hrs. to get it, but
it was worth it....she had other people interested but they were
too far away.....that was to my advantage...There isn't a mark
on the machine..were a couple of fine marks on cabinet that
I covered with mahogany stain & you can't even see them ...
they were just hairline scratches..not really in the wood...
I'm doing the happy dance!

deedum 05-11-2011 06:45 PM

Your cabinet looks just like the one I have! And your stool too, just a different color on the seat. Mine is a 1950 model, according to my aunt when she gave it to me.

I love your sewing room! :-D

Lucky Patsy's 05-11-2011 08:53 PM

Congrats! I'd love to have one of those!

montanajan 05-11-2011 10:02 PM

Very nice! I think I saw that on ebay when I was looking.
I just bought a 1946 Singer 201-2 to put in Mom's old cabinet that I now have. I learned to sew on her 201-2 & decided to restore the cabinet to its former glory, or I'd have purchased a 301 - actually like them a lot - congrats!

Krystyna 05-12-2011 03:39 AM

Wonderful. Love your room, too. Did they ship the cabinet as well?

JanG 05-12-2011 05:14 AM

Congratulations - I know you will love the 301. I have 4 of them. I purchased my black, long bed 301 in 1955 in Pensacola, FL - clothed 4 children and myself. Only maintenance that cost was the rubber circle for the bobbin winder. Oh and of course, bulbs. I piece all my quilt tops on the 301 - almost a perfect 1/4" seam. I could go on and on about what a great machine it is but don't want to bore everyone.:)

roadrunr 05-12-2011 05:33 AM

she's a beauty and looks like new, she must not have been used very much. Such a good find!

Bore? I don't think you'd bore anyone, just make us all envious. I so want one or a featherweight.

GramaLaura 05-12-2011 05:37 AM

I have a 301 portable and I love it. I use it when I need an extra machine for granddaughters of even if I want to watch TV with my husband. I set it on the kitchen table for the evening. It has a beautiful stitch.

vivoaks 05-12-2011 06:24 AM

Congrats! I got my 301 on Ebay, too. I don't have a cabinet, though, and mine came in a case. Yours looks beautiful. Have fun with it!!

pegstar 05-12-2011 06:40 AM

Melody, Sure enough we have the same cabinet...I think my
machine was made in 1951...have to check it again
