Miriam, that is quite a sad story. Your mother sold your dear piano to apparently have some moron destroy it. :(

I don't know it was our piano... but it was a very small town and the time was right... I was a tad bit upset but it didn't stunt my growth losing it since we were moving and losing it anyway - it was a lot weird watching it turn those cartwheels and crash in the road 50 ft in front of me. Thank God nobody was hurt. I'd say it was a candidate for the funny home video if it was on film. I doubt if someone could do that if they tried. I think the morons didn't strap it to the truck. I worry every time someone picks up a sewing machine and doesn't strap it down. Oh it will be ok. Well, you paid for it - it's yours - that's my though on it. I hope you paid liability insurance... anything can happen. We sold an old white sink unit the other day - the guy never strapped it down. He said he wasn't going that far... That piano made it less than a mile. It was the first corner he came to... strap it down - what ever it is...

I found miriam's story kind of funny. I think that taken slowly around the corner, chances are good the piano would have made it. So many people think they can drive "normally" with a high center of gravity load in the back. Yup, tie it down. Here they ticket fairly aggressively for an unsecured load. Any machine I pick up in a cabinet is put in the "back seat" of the truck, and snuggled in with the front seat so it can't move. The head is removed and put on the floor, so it can't come crashing out on one of our bad roads. (It probably wouldn't happen, but I've bought some pretty rough cabinets and those machines are heavy. Not to mention if the screws for the hinges are loose.) I've had one head tip over on the floor, but that's it.

Grant you were right: It's now mine - needs a bit of overhaul though - GS, Wilbur, is a maniac with the oil. I think I'll just let him have at it for a while next time he comes over... It came in a table.

Wonder if half the price is for the book they wrote describing it! Lol!

Those prices for the Singers don't seem that bad. If I had a machine that people were going cuckoo for, I'd probably put a higher starting price as well.
