it's different, only because of the type metal. open the hood of your car,, any car over 10 yrs old many much newer will have whiote specks all over the place..

if you were into cars , boats or planes you'd see it every day. nothing to loose sleep over. kinda like dirt on the bottem of your shoes

all you have to do is oil it after the crust has been removed.

So, do you think it's been hyped up because it's seen on FW's and people are frantic when it comes to them? :> I've seen on different lists people really worked up about it!

I cleaned and oiled the machine and treadle tonight, its really smooth. The belt should be here soon. I still can't believe how amazing the condition is.

Had another lesson in KISS yesterday. :) Pulled out the 301 to finally give her a quilt to sew on, and for the life of me couldn't figure out why the top thread was making little loops on the back of the fabric. She worked just fine when I put her away last time! Looked at the bobbin...nothing. Cranked up the top tension...nothing. Then I thought what are they always saying on the QB? Bottom problems are top tension problems. Walked away. Sat back down, gave the old girl a pat and promised not to do anything drastic to her. Followed my threading from the needle up. Urm...ooops! I had pulled the thread in front of the tension discs instead of between them. Easy to do and not so easy to spot at a glance. Rethreaded her properly and all was well again.

So, thanks for keeping me from lots of frustration y'all! :) :)

There was talk of the ironrites. any type iron like that, that I have seen was always in a white metal stand, just as the dry cleaners used..

This is a wooden cabinet model and the listing went in 20 minutes ago. some how I don't think there would be one any cheaper than this is,, unless it's free

Sharon I LOVE your new Pfaff! Wow, what a great find to find the Pfaff 60 in a treadle! The machine looks like it is in great shape too. You know there are lots of different things people use for treadle belts, but I just bought the treadle belt leather on a roll so I can cut the right length for every machine. Even when you buy the belt pre-packaged, you have to cut it to fit your machine, which always wastes some of the belt. When I got my Hitachi, which is an industrial treadle, I had to get a longer than the 72" belt - all the pre-packaged belts come in 72" lengths - so I just got the treadle belt roll! Now, I just cut the length belt off I need - no waste, and I always have the correct length!

Sounds like my day...almost.

Yesterday while sewing on my Singer 201, I notice the machine producing a different sound in the bobbin area. I noticed that the stitching wasn't correct; so, I went to check the bobbin. Well, not only was the bobbin out, but the race and race hook had come out. Yup!:) Well, I had cleaned that machine months ago and have been sewing on it with no troubles.

Rain came to my rescue!! I had bookmarked the page; so, I quickly went to work reinstalling the race and hook.

I thought I had clicked that pin back correctly months ago, and I might have done so, but somehow it all came apart yesterday.

I'm thinking that a thread had gotten caught in the pin area, and a pulling of the thread released the pin which then cause the race and hook to come loose.

I have been sewing with my Singer 224 the past couple of days, and the machine sews beautifully! Has no difficultly sewing through two layers of jeans with batting and cotton fabric...and all done with decorative stitching.

I would go after this one, but I just don't feel like driving into the City....although a trip into Japantown is always fun since there is a wonderful hardware store...and then the food. I might be talking myself into a drive.:D

If only I had a basement...

Did anyone else notice it's in the case backwards?? Wondered why the top wasn't on evenly and then did another peek at the first pic....oh, ya....now I see it...LOL!!!
