Maybe I have to change my name to machine addict.

Also, thanks for opening the shop!

You are so welcome I love that we have a "Shop" to go to and hang out and shoot the breeze and show off out machines!!!

Now the Blackside is the type of finish that singer used during the Korean war era and after. It took the place of plating the parts so that the nickel could be used for the war effort. It was a bluing type of finish like the fire arms had on them and eventually they use a paint towards the end.

They are sought after by collectors and often bring premium prices depending on the item. I am just now getting into the attachments and have a few of them I use but no Blackside finish ones yet!!

you posted a photo of your beauty on page 6. I wanted to tell you how beautiful I think it is.

Thanks, Dorothy! Right now that's all I'm doing with her - looking at her, and admiring. I'm still undecided if I will try and get her going.

Hi Melody, I bought a Singer Touch n' Sew in 1970 or maybe 1971 when I had my first daughter. In 1975 I was given a Bernina 830 (not to be confused with the current Bernina 830  ). Don't remember whatever happened to my Touch n' Sew though. Never thought it would be vintage someday... a little short sighted I guess.

I think we have all gotten rid of items that later we wish we had kept.

Does any one know how to adjust the bobbin winder on my machine? I changed the tire and belt but the tire is not hitting the wheel even if I tighten the screw as tight as I can get it.

Thanks,

Sharon

Also, does anyone us a singer model 66 and do you like it. Which singer model has the largest throat space?

Night all,

Sharon

Hey, I just noticed that on the front of my Singer 15-91 that what is actually on the machine is 15 -. There isn't any 91. The owner's manual says Singer 15-91. What gives with that?

I still love it but is it a 15-91? :?

Ok, I jumped in with both feet. Here is the singer 201K, I think, from Japan. Serial on bottom is TA571450PA. It has the original box the motor came in and it is installed. She runs but definately needs some cleaning and lubrication. I am going to call her Mitsuko after the original owner. Also has a buttonhole attachment. My problem is the manuals, there in Japanese :-o . This will be another project to work through the tutorial with Billy.

I did run her and she purred after the belt softened up a bit. However there is an ozone smell so not sure if the motor has a problem.

Enjoy the pictures!

Night all,

Sharron I LOVE my 66 and I am trying to locate another one that is the side clamp and has the back tack feature for regular use in my studio. After using yours for a while you will see what I mean you can not help but to love it!! I can see why they were such a popular model.

Industrials like the 29's and 31's had like 18 and 20 inch throats. But as far as domestic I think the full sized machines (27, 66, 127, 15, and so on) had like a 9" throat I think. I will have to measure mine to see for sure, but it is plaenty of room for doing a King sized quilt on including FMQ.

Charlee might would know off the top of her head.

Sweetie I can do a lot of things but translating Japanese is not one of them!!!

I am in LUST over your machine!!!! Yes I said it LUST!!!!!

You hit the jackpot on this machine and I will tell you it is a completely different animal than the 185J. Oh man I am going nuts over this one!!!! I would put it back treadle and save the motor and the box and all. But ozone is normal to smell when dealing with the older motors. Eventually it will go away after repeated use, but MAN I am in LUST, LOVE or what ever over it!!!!!

I have got to find me one some how, thanks to you guys my wish list is growing like crazy!!!

Billy
