Yankeegirl,
Congrats on your first treadle and you got a good one. These machines are great for binding and straight line quilting. You can get a manual for your VF2 at the Davis VF Yahoo group: http://dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/da...sec=dir&slk=25 The Vertical Feeds can be pretty accurately dated by the serial number on the front slide plate from warranties on file: http://needlebar.org/nbwiki/index.php/Davis Enjoy Jon

This is my first treadle and I am very excited and happy to have her - have not had a chance to sit and play yet but looking forward to learning. Its a Davis - I think a VF2.

I would use Goo Gone. I think it's orange based. You can also use it on clothing. I used it to remove pine pitch. N

it may well not line up with the 8's needle bar. We shall see.

Both of mine fit both my W&W8 and my Singer 9W... I guess I'm just confused as to how this is going to attach to the machine?

Be very careful using alcohol on sewing machines, it'll take the paint off in a hurry.
