My Craig's List find today
Was looking for something else on Craig's list today and "just happened" to run across this one.
Sorry no pictures as I did not copy the ones from the listing before they were removed and she is too heavy for me to take out of the truck by myself.
Anyway she is a 1952 Singer 206 in a decent cabinet. Came with original manual and some attachments. Motor is trying very hard to get her moving nicely but I'm pretty sure a good oiling will remedy that. Got her and two dining room type chairs (in good condition) for $55.
Don't think that was too bad a price, especially given the other prices on there for the greater Houston area.
Really wanted to check out the beautiful redeye, but $200 is outside my budget limit.

Woohoo! If I can get mine rewired, we can learn our new 206's together! Mine's a 1953 in a #42 "Writing Desk" cabinet...what kind of cabinet did yours come in?
I'm really wanting to sew with this machine, but haven't gotten the new wire for her yet!

Is the cabinet maybe a school cabinet of some kind? The space on the right is a cubbyhole for books or to fabric storage or other storage?
I have a really nice 206K, black, but mine needs reriewd, too! lol I guess they are just at that age. The motor wires insulation is chipping off of mine.

MadCow333 - I had thought of that as well. Might be just right for that big hardback Singer Sewing Book my mom had when I was growing up! And room left over for magazines or whatever. Interesting idea.
