Vintage Sewing Machine Shop.....Come on in and sit a spell
Sometimes on 99 conversions, I take one of the screws out of the winder and just use a light finger pressure to hold it against the wheel when I need to wind a bobbin.
"Places like Sew-Classic sell spoked hand wheels and the hand crank kits. Once installed you use your original bobbin winder. They drive off the wheel just like before."
Nope some of the bobbin winders do not go from a small balance wheel to a larger balance wheel. Not that simple all the time.

This one has some stretch and it is squishy. I purchased it at one of the Japanese dollar stores here in the Bay Area. It was located back in the aquarium stuff.

Kathie & Nancy,
Cool looking machine. This model is the model "E". Made by the Free Sewing Machine CO. in association with Westinghouse who made the motor. It was made from the early 1940's into early 1950's. It takes the CC needle which is shorter than the 15x1. Several charts found on the internet say that the 206x13 needle is a substitute, however it does not work well. The 206x13 needle has a different timing length than the proper CC. I have a small stock of the proper needle, let me know if you need any.
Cathy
[QUOTE=BoJangles;497761going to try and post Kathie's new Free Westinghouse, but for some reason it doesn't want to up load to our shop! Yeah! I had to shrink it, but it finally worked![/QUOTE]

Why not just use a treadle belt? Everyplace I've seen on the net and my LSMG sells the things.
Just wondering. I got 4 treadles and they all wear leather.
