There's a Wilson & Wheeler advertised in my area. The serial # is 2313072. Latest patent date is 1892. Does anyone have any idea if this is a W&W #9 or something else? I just emailed asking for more inofrmation using specific questions and also asking for pictures. I probably can't get it but am just curious.

I stopped at a shop during a road trip to acquire a Singer with Wings decals. The owner was pulling into the parking lot and saw the treadle in the back of my car. She advised wiping the machine down with ammonia on a rag to clean it, and if I see the decals silvering I've gone too far. I gently said I'd be gently cleaning the head with sewing machine oil so I wouldn't risk ruining the decals. I'm so thankful for all the good information posted on this site- people are very generous here! Turns out the treadle was in a tarp car hut. It is not in quite as good condition as expected so I plan to be Very careful. I plan to try Glenn's tutorial this summer on a practice head before I work on a good machine. It's nice to know there is so much that can be done inexpensively to restore these machines.
Any guess on what model this machine is? Don't you just love it when they take pictures of the back of sewing machine? It would be like taking a picture of the undercarriage of a car you are trying to sell.

Remember I had posted that I had a machine sent away for repair and it had been 5 months? I was so happy to see the UPS man today with a package for me!! It sews beautifully and it FMQ great! It may be a big competitor to my 301's for FMQ. Smooth and quiet. I believe this was one of the first models Pfaff made with IDT in the 70's.
The repair man had a heart attack, that's why it took so long. :< He did an awesome job and it runs like a brand new machine.

I saw an ad on CL last week for a very inexpensive 301. I watched it for a few days and kept telling myself I did not need ANOTHER 301. It was advertised in non-working condition and missing parts. I've really had to watch expenses since taxes were overwhelming for us this year. I had to run to Southern CA. and figured when I got back 3 days later, if it was still for sale it was meant to be.
It was meant to be:> I spent about 4 hours getting it working. It was pretty rusted and locked up. Now she's another gem and stitches beautifully. I own 5 of them now. I think I need a 301 intervention! LOL!!
