Vintage Sewing Machine Shop Machine Photos
#1352
2 weeks ago I found a 301 with case and sewable in an antique shop for $50.00
I have been checking it out and done some cleaning and a bit of sewing. I had to replace the plug in cord- and I wanted to replace the foot petal because I like to sew slowly. All in all it has been a great machine.

The German Kenmore 84 compared to the Japanese Kenmore 84...both very nice machines, but I am surprised that there are so many differences mechanically!

Insides too. They take different cams, the stitches set differently, the bobbin on the Japanese (gray) machine faces the end of the machine, on the German machine, the *&^# thing faces forward so that you have to lift the machine to reach it, even with a slide plate that is useless! They're like two totally different models.

Miriam, I'll have to look at the cabinet's label (inside, have to nearly stand on my head or sit on the floor and crawl under it to look) but I'm pretty sure that this is the original cabinet for the machine, it has the German "pincushion" in the drawer. There's no access hole in the front of it tho.

I have two or 3 of those cabinets. I try to match up machines that NEED that kind of cabinet. That Redeye can be re-homed. I'm not sure Kenmore made a cabinet like that. The Singer 306 and 319 sure do need a cabinet with a hand hole. I don't know if you want to cut a hole in a cabinet but it would be a lot easier to change out the bobbin.
