Default What Singer treadle number is this one?

I have one of these treadle cabinets of my own, and this one is going to my SIL. I've looked over ISMACs several times and there is no listing for this cabinet that I can find. Does anyone know what number this one is or where to get info on it?

The machine in it is a 66-14, 1 of 15,000 allotted 6-19-1940. Black crinkle paint with a back tack stitch control. Sweet machine and really nice cabinet. Someone has refinished the top in the past, but they did a good job of it.
It came with the original manual, a bunch of original bobbins, the box of accessories, and a few miscellaneous tools.

I just finished cleaning it and getting it ready for her to use.

I can't help you but it's a sweet looking setup. Was that same basic stand used on electric machines too? Every now and then I see one where the pedal operates a controller above it instead of being a treadle.

Joe I too have looked for years and don't find a thing.. even the #42's do not have 42 on then any where , they do have engaved numbers as maybe a part number , some of my older singer treadle cabinets have what looks like a singer number stamped in them, other have nothing in that place...

I can say that in 1928 singer used the plain face cabinet, but with a cast iron stand, have been told by 1938 til the end of production of treadles ( year ?? ) they use the plain jane and the straight leg stand. after treadle they used the plain jane but with wooden legs. The machine I know of with this last cabinet was a 1946

I have found that the straight leg / pressed leg stand from the factory ( OG ) where painted brown, if you find a black one it's a repaint .. There also teh narrowest stand the lightest, and quitest, yep the stand carry noise coming from like machine
. the 1928 I had was a 66 gloss paint same decals, had the chorme around the stitch lenght, don't remember a white lever
Yours is the only one I've seen with that machine head ..crinkle paint

I don't know anything about the cabinet, but I used to have one with a 15-88 in it. The 15-88 manual shows the cabinet, but doesn't identify it.

You won't find that one on ISMACS, because it's too new LOL!!

I'll have to look, I'm pretty sure I've got a manual that shows that one, it probably is original to that machine, so also 1940's vintage.

Mine came with a 15-88 in it. I still have the treadle part, though the wood was in very poor shape. Machine got converted to electric, put in a small cabinet and given to a 12 year old who loves it. That one probably was the nicest sewing 15 I've had so far. Worked smoother than any of the 15-91's I've sewn on.

I found the manual, it's dated 1936. Does not say anything about a model number for the cabinet, or much else. Has a nice picture of it - and a page on how to operate a treadle.

Thanks, I looked in the 66-14 manual, dated 5-40, and found not one mention of the treadle cabinet. Not a single picture or any oiling instructions. The manual covers the head and accessories only. I wonder if they might have had a separate booklet for the cabinet in later years?

Joe, I've not found any "cabinet" manuals like that (and you can bet I'd have grabbed it if I did LOL!!) I have found treadle care instructions in earlier Singer manuals, but it's pretty much "if the metal rubs, add a drop of oil".

I have a 1937 model 15 in the same treadle cabinet. I just call it a plain cabinet with table leg irons.

I also have a model 191U in a similar cabinet only the table leg irons are only half rounded and there is Singer molded into the bottom part of the leg. The machine was made in Japan and looks like an English made 201. I think it was brought in from Mexico. Didn't get much information on it from the owners, but she was Mexican I think and she said it was her Aunts.
