I cut a 2 1/2" strip to give me a little more room for turning. If it is a fancy quilt I do as above, stitch raw side to front of quilt and hand miter and finish in the back by hand. If it is a child's quilt or wall hanging sometimes I stitch raw side to BACK and then fold it over to the front and use a fancy machine stitch to finish it by machine. It looks cute and is super durable for children's quilts especially that get washed often.
