I think I would write down the whole experience; tuck in the quilt; put her name on it and pack it away--something she'll have of yours when you're no longer around--I know I treasure any little thing that was my grandmothers'. Hopefully, it would put a smile on her face knowing how much you loved her to start a whole new quilt for her because of the colors!
