Congratulations on "infecting" the next generation. A couple of years ago, I went to Maryland to spend time with one of my granddaughters--7 years old at the time. In order to have something to do, I took sewing machines and fabrics and she made a quilt. Last year we made another, and this year she wondered if we'll make another one. It's exciting to see her sewing and enjoying it. I started sewing when I was 5 years old since I was finally able to reach the treadle and the top of the machine at the same time. My mother was very patient, and generous in letting my sisters and me use the machine. When Daddy said, "They'll sew their fingers!" her response was, "They won't do it but once!" And we didn't!
