A class in beginner is always a nice way to start, kit normally has the pre chosen colors thet coordinate well, can also pick up a book, will help a lot, When picking colors, keep in mind it's easier to coordinate fewer colors, I try to either get all from the same series, so the base colors are the same, or if your going w/pink & purple, make sure the pink has some of the same purple tones in it.
