Thanks for this tutuorial. I am right now in the process of making a quilt from 3 layer cakes and I have several extra 4 patches that I couldn't use in the body of the quilt. I am working on a piano keys border and am thinking that I could use this fractured 4 patch as interesting corner points to anchor the borders. Thank you for the suggestion. I hope to be posting the quilt top soon in pictures.

I made these using 5" squares. First make your 4 patches using 2 lights and 2 darks. Then measure out 1 1/2" from the center seam and cut. Rotate your block and do this until all 4 sides have been cut. Then take the center little block you have just cut from each side and turn them around. Then sew your block back together. I hope everyone can understand this! Its my first tutorial.
