I personally like Richard Hemming #11, and Jeanna Kimball's size 11. But you should really try different needles - what works for me might not work for you. If you haven't hand quilted before, a size 10 might be more comfortable.

I usually buy a pack of quilting needles if I stumble across a brand I haven't seen before

Edited to add: these are betweens, not straw needles.
These are also my first choice needles, love them. I started quilting with a Richard Hemmings size 10 between.
