What "in your opinion" are the best or easiest hand quilting needles to use? I am still learning all of this and want to make an educated purchase.

It depends on you. Some like straw neeedles, some a small needle. I like a 10 or a strw needle. I tend to bend my needles as I sew, but I like the bend in the needle, others get rid of them.

I personally like Richard Hemming #11, and Jeanna Kimball's size 11. But you should really try different needles - what works for me might not work for you. If you haven't hand quilted before, a size 10 might be more comfortable.

I usually buy a pack of quilting needles if I stumble across a brand I haven't seen before.

Edited to add: these are betweens, not straw needles.

I like Piecemakers, size 11. Those don't bend as easily as some of the others.

These are also my first choice needles, love them. I started quilting with a Richard Hemmings size 10 between.

I like to use the John James #11. They also have a brand with big eye and it's very easy to thread them.
Just try different brands as possible, you will certainly find the right needle for you.
Happy Quilting!

I use John James #11 betweens to hand quilt and use the Straw needles # 11 to sew my binding on. The straw needles are too long for hand quilting in my opinion.
