Here's what someone suggested when i showed them my "ugly quilt."
Cut it up and re-arrange the pieces, add new fabrics where you see fit.
I did this and the results were surprising. It makes your new quilt look more complicated and , actually, now I like it. (Think of a strip quilt, for example.)
