Our 27th anniversary is on September 17. We met at the beginning of our senior year in college and were married the next year.
Seeing my grandparents celebrate their 50th the year before I met my DH made a huge impression on me and it was something that I really wanted to strive for. I was very fortunate to meet someone that I felt I could spend the rest of my life with and he felt the same (especially at age 21) and have thanked heaven above every day since we decided that we were right for each other.
We have had our "moments" (especially when we were younger), but worked through them and we don't regret a minute of the tough times.
One thing I learned: The bluebird of happiness does not fly up your nose on your wedding day, no matter how beautiful everything is on that day. The struggles were worth it and made us stronger!
