In our house the only stupid question is the one not asked. So be sure to continue to ask, it also leads us into other dicussions. As for the insulbrite, there is no up or down side. The insulation is in the center of two pourous fabrics, so either side up would be fine. I love the stuff and it's easy to sew through, too!
