Actually, the only have 183 quilts and many of them are not that great. They do have some great ones in the collection that are deffinately worth seeing.

A couple of other places that you can go and see great quilts up close:

The Smithsonian will give you a tour of the quilt room. The Annapolis quilt guild does the tours and they will do it on a one on one basis. They open up the drawers of about a dozen quilts and these are some of the best.


The International Quilt Study Center in Lincoln, Nebraska has a collection of well of 1000 quilts now and they are ALL museum quality and very special specimins. They refold their quilts on a rotating basis and use all volunteers. So, you can plan to go there in the summer and work with the quilts. You can stay at the Alumni Center for a reasonable cost. They server breakfast every day as part of your stay. It is fun to do this as a group. You will see things that you never thought existed in the way of quilts.... OMG.....
