My son used to be a hoop dancer when he was young. My family has members of several tribes. Lot of work goes into making the dance costumes.
Then you should know they aren't costumes , its referred to as Regalia.
Thanks for clearing that up. I was going to comment that they weren't costumes they were clothing but yet I didn't know what they were called. No different then if you went to a reservation and they called our dress costumes. For that matter you can not insult a civil war re enactor more then calling their period correct clothing a costume. Now there are people who wear what they THINK is 1860's clothing however if it is not period correct THAT is a costume.
