I've never starched my fabric. Don't wash it or shrink it. Just cut repeats, stack, pin and cut strips, then triangles. Use skinny pins to hold it all together.
I agree - in fact, starching it and over wetting it might warp it out of 'true'. Just use it straight off the bolt. :-D
