I was meeting my friend at a Salvation Army store. As I went into the store a gentleman came out and said NYC had been bombed. There was a TV on in the back of the store and several customers gathered as the second plane struck. As I watched the dust ball roll down the street I thought of my cousin who was working at One Wall Street. He got off the subway at a different stop to buy a donut that morning. He ended up ducking into a shop to watch the dust go by. He lives in Yonkers and it took a lot of walking before he found a ride home.
I work at a small Christian college with a lot of international students. Many parents and relatives work in NYC or DC. They brought a large screen TV into the Campus Center where everyone gathered to just sit and watch and pray.
