I kind of wondered about that. I've found that some of the charity shops I've visited absolutely reek. You can just about smell them from the street. Others must launder all items prior to sale. And then there's the dreaded sweat stain on the underarms... Say no more.

Well I am quite choosy....luckily most of our charity shops seem to have good standards, out of the 4 local shops only one seems to have that 'old clothes been stored in a bag for years kind of smell...YUCK, I won't buy anything no matter how nice the fabric if it stinks...I am frugal but not that desperate LOL!!
