Rachel, I would take it back to the shop and tell them I was going to rip it out and would need a refund (not sure I would trust them to rip it out). They did not use enough stabilizer and the stitching was too dense for that fabric. You might have someone else embroidery what you want and then cut it out and apllique it to the top.
