Thanks for your thoughts. My Bernina is the 801, just a utility machine with few extra stitches. It still works perfectly, so I am keeping it to use, while my new machine is busy doing embroidery and in case I have mechanical problems sometimes. I looked at buying a Bernina, but in Australia the only one with the wide harp for quilting is $A12,000. A quilting machine with an 8 inch harp seems pointless.
