My DD's in-laws are losing their house in Michigan. They have been paying the mortgage for a very long time. Haven't lived in the house for 10 years because there is no work for them there but they were keeping the house for retirement.
They were late a few times on their mortgage payment and the bank said that since it is not being lived in that it is considered abandoned and they are foreclosing on it. Really really sad.
Makes me scared. We are struggling because we are paying all the living expenses for my DD and SIL to the tune of $800 a month and we are broke. I couldn't make the house payment on time this month. It was due the 1st and I will pay it on the 29th. The bank has already called me and asked me if it was abandoned. I'm very angry and scared!!! I've never once in 11 years been late on the payment :(
