Recently I made a baby quilt from my deceased father's shirts. My nephew was almost in tears because he loved his grandfather very much and named the baby after him. I used two other fabrics for borders and large squares between the ninepatch squares from the shirts to make it look more organized. It was simple but very attractive. I saved fabric for the next baby in the family due in a few months. The fabric goes farther if you incorporate other fabric too. I explained to them that the nine patches were the shirt fabric. The quilt doesn't have to be exclusively form the shirts to be special. I loved doing it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I used a lot of starch to make it easier to piece.
