For many years, I had no place to sew but a corner of the bedroom. Then I managed to figure out how to take a small closet (not walk in) and use it for sewing table and machine and store the stuff in containers under the sewing table. If you have a bookcase that you could use the lower half for setting a machine at right angle you could use that. Another way to get a little space is using a vintage/or not table like and end table at the end of a sofa, or in a hall. Look hard there is usually somewhere that you can find a little space.
To free up the small closet I had to "organize" the other closets to accomodate the stuff out of the closet. Perhaps you could find some space like that. I am an empty nester now and have a whole room for sewing, and no matter how much space you have, you always need more.
