Big in the literal sense? Insanely expensive? Very complicated? Or perhaps a combination of all three? Interpret the question however you like.
Mine was a K size applique with 48 different tulip designs. I researched historical societies, books and old folios from the 1930s depression era when the CCC projects sent women artists to Applachia to document quilt designs. It was a real learning experience.

It took me three years to applique and hand quilt. I can look at individual blocks now 30 years later and remember where I was and what I was doing. I gave it to my son and DIL
