Our guild had a potluck and Chinese gift exchange - except we did potholders! They were supposed to be hand-made. The board set up 12 tables of 8 (yes, we are small town with a large wonderful guild of which I am the new president). Each table had a big card with a letter of the alphabet on it. When guests signed in, they drew for a number - A-1, B-2, etc. They sat at the letter table and the number stood for the number on the gifts. The gifts were numbered 1-8 on each table. That way, each lady could see the person's reaction to receiving her gift. At first, people were upset because they couldn't sit with their usual group but in the end, it was great because it made them visit with the other ladies at their table.
