Hi Linda,
I had the privilege of meeting 3 other board members
in New York City, of all places (I live in TX), in early Dec.
We had a great day of going to quilt shops, talking,
having lunch, and just making new quilting friends. I
know that is not what you are really talking about, but
I would encourage you to get together with the new
friend you have made on this board and see what the
two of you would enjoy doing together.

I started a group at my church back in 2000 and we had
anywhere from 5 - 10 each week. We got together every
Thursday night to make quilts. We each worked on our own
projects, but we also made some quilts as donation quilts
for various things. In 2001 we made 20 patriotic quilts
from my "America Still Shines" pattern and then in Sept
of 2002, 4 of us took them to New York to give to some
of the police stations, fire stations, port authority station
that lost the most workers on 9/11, and some of the widows
of some of the rescue workers. It was very rewarding.

We had so much fun meeting each week and sewing together. Sometimes we would have an overnight mini-
retreat where we would come on Friday, and leave Saturday.
We sewed into the wee hours of the night, and some slept
a few hours and then got up and sewed some more. We
also took day trips to quilt shops, and sometimes we took
an excursion out of town to do our own mini-shop hop.

Those were some of the most rewarding and fun years of
my life. Sadly it all came to an end and I am now in a position of having to sew alone, which I don't like. If you
can find a buddy where your personalities mesh and you
want to get together, I say go for it. You won't be disappointed.
Have a Great Day!
Marcia
