I can truly understand your anxiety. However, one of my greatest treasures is an apron made by a young lady who is learning to sew. (I actually was fortunate enough to share her first experiences and offer advise about techniques as well as help her get her Great Aunt's machine sewing properly). She asked me why I would bid on an apron she had made when I could make one that would have been sewn so much more professionally (this were her words, not mine). I could honestly say, "it is BECAUSE YOU made it". She was in such a hurry to complete it for the auction, she actually forget an entire seam at the waistband. I was so glad I had won this, I just finished the seam and said nothing to her. It hangs with pride in my kitchen and reminds me of this lovely young lady who now loves to sew.

The long story is to say that if this quilt is given in love and received in love, no flaws (if any) will matter at all. She will be honored that you care enough to spend so much time on her gift.
