When water leaks through wood it usually picks up dirt which sometimes dries with a golden brown color water stain.Looks like tea was spilt on it. sometimes this stain won't come out after it dries. I believe I would wash the fabric to be sure it isn't ruined. sounds like you have a big investment in fabric there.better to be safe than sorry. good luck Mary
