I completely agree about Paula Deen. We stopped overnight (on our drive from N.H. to Fl,) to eat at her restaurant in Georgia and it was the biggest restaurant disappointment of my life. Neeeded reservations,very small and dark, food very, very greasy and the food bar was about the size that I have at home for a holiday. And yes, that accent is truly irrating!!!
Now, I do like the Barefoot contessa because she doesn't really put on airs. My favorite is Melissa deArabian. I've tried many of her recipes and they all come out great.
