What a great story. Brought tears to my eyes for sure. I was/am very close to my grandmother but live across the country from her now and she's suffering from Alzheimers. I'm in the process of losing her and there's nothing I can do. You are so very lucky to have such wonderful tangible things to remember her by. That patchwork jacket is adorable.
I also noticed you named your son after your grandparent's last name. I did the same. :) Gordan and Susan Carson are my grandparents and my oldest son is named Carson.
