Back in the 'olden days' when we were lucky to have a black and white little tv screen encased in a huge wood cabinet, most mothers were at home, doing ironing, cooking, etc. And these women liked to watch soap operas during the day while they were doing chores around the house. Fast forward to the present: a LOT of women work outside the home, so don't ever watch soap operas. So the tv stations put on reality shows at night to fill the void of snooping into other people's lives. Just a theory.
