Fast forward to the present: a LOT of women work outside the home, so don't ever watch soap operas. So the tv stations put on reality shows at night to fill the void of snooping into other people's lives. Just a theory.
That's actually a pretty good theory IMO especially when you consider how many daytime soaps have had to go off the air in the last few years.
