I think it is the same thing that happens when there is an accident on the side of the road. Traffic on both sides slows down (hoping?) to see some bad things. My personal opinion after watching a few of these shows is that they are famous but not talented.

I may step on toes here, but I add to the list of stupid shows all soap operas. What joy is there in watching all those ridiculous problems of often immoral fictional characters. I think I would get depressed watching soaps.

The only soap I ever liked was "Dark Shadows." Hurry home from school everyday to watch.

I am like most of you here, can't think of a good reason to sat and take in nothing. Have to admit, in younger years I watched one soap then got to thinking, my life was waiting for the next show and most of it was reruns from day before. I said no more. :)

There is only one reason to watch these shows - to see a group of people more ridiculous than yourself.

I, too, have channel surfed and caught a few minutes of one of these shows...gagged, and resumed surfing.

As far as 'reality' goes, if my friends and family treated me the way the 'stars' of these shows treat each other, I'd find me a new set of friends and family real fast!

Yeah, I do. But Peyton Place wasn't supposed to be a 'reality' show. It was billed as a television drama. Even so, most of the characters on Peyton Place had basic manners.

You hit the nail on the head. Our society needs an overhaul. There is no respect left for "good manners", "good behavior", or "good people.
